ID Team Design Guide

Groupon was a constantly evolving company with processes to match. The instructional design team was created just a few months before I arrived and we were "building the car as we were driving it". This created so many different processes and details that we had to memorize. Or, (worst case) we just did whatever worked in the moment. Our designs were inconsistent and we had to constantly ask what was the right process when in the learning management system. Something had to change.
Because of this, I took the initiative to draft the ID Design Guide. This was to be a living document that housed all of our links, details, and processes of the instructional design team. At any point, a designer could add a comment, tag someone, or bring an update to discuss in our team meetings.
This guide was particularly helpful when we began hiring new designers. This would be a safe space for them to look for answers and wouldn't put the burden entirely on experienced designers. Also, the fresh eyes helped call out when something was missing.
